Den 16. december 1944 kl. 03.53 styrtede LAN ND682 ned i Kattegat, måske omkring her. Flyvehistorisk Tidsskrift skriver:

"15.-16. december 1944 (Kl. 03.53). Sydlige del af Kattegat. Lancaster Mk. III ND682 (ZN- ). 106 BS, 5 BG, Metheringham, Lincs. (Minering ved Gdynia, her)
5 MIA
og 2 KIA (Anholt og Pålsjo, Sverige)

15 Lancasters og 8 Halifaxes skulle kaste miner i danske farvande og i Østersøen. ND682 blev skudt ned i den sydøstlige del af Kattegat (måske omkring her) af en Ju88rt af Major Werner Husemann fra I/NJG3 (Grove, her). Flight engineer Sgt. John Frederick Emerson blev fundet den 6. marts 1945 (omkring her) ca. 8 sømil syd for Anholt, og han blev begravet den næste dag på Anholt kirkegård. Piloten, F/O Edgar Barrett blev fundet ved Kulla Gunnarstorp (her) i Sverige og begravet på Pålsjö kirkegård ved Helsingborg (her) den 7. marts 1945. Resten af besætningen har ingen kendt grav." On 16 December 1944 at 03.53 hours LAN ND682 crashed into the Kattegat, maybe about here. (Danish) Aviation Historical Review writes:

"15 -16 December 1944 (03.53 hours). Southern part of the Kattegat. Lancaster Mk. III ND682 (ZN- ). 106 BS, 5 BG, Metheringham, Lincs.
(Gardening at Gdynia, here) 5 MIA and 2 KIA (Anholt and Pålsjo, Sweden)

15 Lancasters and 8 Halifaxes were on a minelaying operation to Danish waters and the Baltic Sea. ND682 was shot down over the south eastern part of the Kattegat (maybe about here) by a Ju88 piloted by Major Werner Husemann from I/NJG3 (Grove, here). On 6 March 1945 Flight engineer Sgt. John Frederick Emerson was found (here) about 8 nautical miles south of Anholt, and he was buried the next day in Anholt Cemetery. Pilot, F/O Edgar Barrett was found at Kulla Gunnarstorp (here) in Sweden and buried in Pålsjö Cemetery at Helsingborg (here) on 7 March 1945. The rest of the crew have no known grave." (FT 88-42-38)
