From the school in Svankjær the 9 American soldiers were taken to Germany, first to interrogation in Dulag Luft in Oberursel near Frankfurt am Main. Then they were taken to the Prisoner of War camps  Stalag Luft VI and later Stalag Luft IV, both of them near Heydekrug (today the town Silute in Lithuania) on the border between
the then occupied Lithuania and East Prussia (now the Russian enclave Kaliningrad).
