P51 44-14135 ned i Gørlev (her,
overblik her ca. 300 m nord-nordøst for Gørlev Skole. Det
var bag daværende Gørlev Maskinsnedkeri på Kalundborgvej 20, dengang ejet af

Mustang skulle ledsage bombefly til Hamburg.
Flyvehistorisk Tidsskrift skriver:
"Under eskorte af
bombefly til Hamborg angreb enheden en tysk
flyveplads ved Leck. Captain Robert D. Brown fløj som
leder af rød sektion, og under
angrebet blev hans Mustang
ramt i kølesystemet af let flak. De fire fly i sektionen trak straks væk og fløj
mod Sverige. Over Sjælland
brød motoren i brand, og
Capt. Brown forlod
øjeblikkelig flyet. Han landede med faldskærm nord for Høng (som er
her) i Vestsjælland,
og medens de øvrige tre Mustangs kortvarigt
kredsede
over ham, søgte han
mod en grusgrav ved Sæby. Ejeren
af grusgraven havde flere modstandsfolk boende på sin
gård, og disse hjalp Capt. Brown på
hans videre vej til Sverige."

(Danish) Aviation Historical Review writes:
"During escort of bombers targeting
Hamburg
the unit attacked a German airfield at
Leck. Captain Robert
D. Brown was the leader of Red Section.
During
the attack his Mustang was hit in the coolant system by light flak. Immediately
the 4 planes in the section flew away and headed for Sweden. Over Zealand
the engine burst into flames and Captain Brown bailed out at once. He landed by
parachute north of Høng (which is
here) in
West Zealand. While the other 3 Mustangs
for a short
while circled over him, he went to a gravel pit at Sæby. The owner of the gravel
pit had a number of members of the resistance movement staying on his
farm, and they assisted Captain Brown on his further way to Sweden." (FT 88-44-46)
