HAM L4087 blev under en minelægningsoperation ved Frederikshavn den 20. juli 1944 ramt af flak og styrtede ned ved Kandestederne, omkring her.
Flyet tog vandoverfladen ca. 100 m fra kysten, tippede om på ryggen og sank på 6-8 meter vand. 2 besætningsmedlemmer omkom. Se p012MACR.

Sgt R.T. Miller og Sgt P.D. Nixon blev begravet på Skagen Kirkegård den 24. og den 25. juli 1944.

De 2 andre besætningsmedlemmer blev snart taget til fange og tilbragte resten af krigen som krigsfanger i Tyskland. (Kilde: FT 89-32-5) 4 flyvere.

The plane ditched about 100 m off the coast, tilted to its back and sank at a depth of 6-8 m. 2 crew members perished.

Sgt R.T. Miller and Sgt P.D. Nixon were buried in Skagen Cemetery on 24 and 25 July 1944.

The 2 other crew members were soon captured and they spent the rest of the war as POWs in Germany. (Source: FT 89-32-5)
