"Tre Liberators (B 24) patruljerede
denne nat.
Kl. 04.25 meldte piloten F/Lt B.L. Howell kort,
at hans fly var beskadiget. Derefter ophørte al kontakt med flyet.
Liget af bombekasteren, F/O John Adam Wilson Heatlie, blev fundet ved Spirbakken
(omkring
(FT 89-73-44)

"Three Liberators (B 24) were on patrol
this night. One of the Liberators attacked a German convoy 30 km northeast of
Skagen. Possibly one ship was hit, but the plane could not carry out more
attacks due to too heavy shooting from the escort vessels. Also KK259 may
have tried to attack the same convoy.
At 04:25 F/Lt (Pilot) B.L. Howell
reported shortly that his plane was damaged. All contact with the plane ceased
after that report.
The body of F/O (Bomb Aimer) John Adam Wilson Heatlie was found at Spirbakken (about
