"Tre Liberators (B 24) patruljerede denne nat.

Kl. 04.25 meldte piloten F/Lt B.L.

"Three Liberators (B 24) were on patrol this night. One of the Liberators attacked a German convoy 30 km northeast of Skagen. Possibly one ship was hit,
but the plane could not carry out more attacks due to too heavy shooting from the escort vessels. Also KK259 may have tried to attack the same convoy.

At 04:25 F/Lt (Pilot) B.L. Howell reported shortly that his plane was damaged.  All contact with the plane ceased after that report.
The body of F/O (Bomb Aimer) John Adam Wilson Heatlie was found at Spirbakken (about here) on 6 September 1945, and he was buried in Skagen Cemetery
two days later. One of the gunners, Sgt G.A. Ellison, was found on the beach at Marstrand in Sweden, and he was buried in Kviberg Cemetery at Gothenburg."
