Den 19. april 1944 styrtede HAL JP202 i Nordsøen under en minelægningsoperation til Fakse Bugt
(omkring her -
se Minelægningsområder.) Hele besætningen omkom. Se p299MACR.

"Flyets maskinist M. J. Petrina ilanddrev den 22. august 1944 ved det tyske støttepunkt Kryle, Houvig
(her, tæt på her). Samme aften kl. ca. 22 begravedes flyveren (på Nysogn Kirkegård) af værnemagten uden
gejstlig medvirken men i overværelse af 2 danske politifolk. Det var overbetjentene K. P. Kristensen og
L. V. Knudsen, begge Ringkøbing." (FAF)

On 19 April 1944 HAL JP202 crashed into the North Sea on a minelaying operation to Fakse Bugt
(about here - s
ee Minelaying areas.) All of the crew perished. See p299MACR.

On 22 August 1944 Flight Engineer M. J. Petrina was washed ashore near the German strongpoint Kryle, Houvig (here, at closer range here). At about 22:00 hours in the same evening he was buried in Nysogn Churchyard by the German Wehrmacht without ecclesiastical assistance but attended by 2 Danish policemen - Police Sergeant K. P. Kristensen and Police Sergeant L. V. Knudsen, both of them from Ringkøbing.

His name is engraved on the Memorial Wall at the BC Museum of Canada.
He is remembered on The Walls of Names at the International Bomber Command Centre, Phase 2, Panel 225.
