On its way to a mine laying operation in
Kiel Bay on the
night before 16 May, 1944,
LAN LL963 was hit by flak and crashed into the sea
at Avernakø. All of
the crew perished.

According to his mother´s wish during her visit in 1949 he rests
under the
Danish stone with the text F/Sgt R.A. Tapp, RAF, died 16 May, 1944. Thank you
for your help. The Parish of Avernakø erected this memorial.
He
is remembered on
