"Under en
mineudlægningsoperation den 15. oktober 1944 nedstyrtede et Halifax fly i
nærheden af Nørre Halne. 6 af de 7 besætningsmedlemmer omkom. Efter Danmarks befrielse blev de 6 flyvere den 2. juni 1945 begravet ved Vadum Kirke. Den overlevende flyver, der i Toldstrups arkiv omtales som Parks – og i det britiske materiale som både Paits og Paiks, blev hjulpet af modstandsbevægelsen og udsejlet til Sverige sidst i oktober 1944.” (FAF) Se detaljer om William R. Parks i AOD. 7 flyvere. HAL MZ826 crashed in a number of parts a few hundred m south west of Nørre Halne. The casualties from the crew were dug down by the Germans here - a little more to the south. During a mine laying operation on 15 October, 1944 a Halifax crashed near Nørre Halne. 6 of the 7 members of the crew perished. The deceased were dug down by the Germans in an area with a strong military presence. After the liberation of Denmark the 6 airmen were buried at Vadum Church on 2 June, 1945. The surviving airman, who in Toldstrup´s archives is mentioned as Parks – and in the British sources as both Paits and Paiks, was helped by the resistance movement and sailed to Sweden in the last part of October 1944.
