WEL W5576 fra RAF Stradishall med kurs mod Torino (her).

"På returflyvningen gik W5576 ned på Nordsøen kl. 07:20. Omkring en time senere blev besætningen bestående af Pilot S/L D.M. Strong,
Co-pilot Sgt Gordon T. Woodroofe RNZAF, Observer P/O H.T.Beare RCAF, W/Op Sgt N.S. Fisher, W/Op-Air Gnr. Sgt J.A. Chubb og
Air Gnr. Sgt R. Ritson samlet op af en dansk fiskekutter og sejlet til to Esbjerg." (AOD) Se også Reddet af fiskere.

De blev ført til Tyske krigsfangelejre.

At 21.30 hrs. on 10 September 1941 WEL W5576 took off from RAF Stradishall heading for Torino (here).

"On the return flight W5576 ditched in the North sea at 07:20 hours. Approx. one hour later the crew, consisting of Pilot S/L D.M. Strong,
Co-pilot Sgt Gordon T. Woodroofe RNZAF, Observer P/O H.T.Beare RCAF, W/Op Sgt N.S. Fisher, W/Op-Air Gnr. Sgt J.A. Chubb and
Air Gnr. Sgt R. Ritson was picked up by a Danish fishing boat and taken to Esbjerg." (AOD) See also Rescued by fishermen.
