Den 12. april 1943 vendte WEL HE491 ikke hjem fra en minelægningsoperation. Flyet må have styrtet ned i Nordsøen. Hele besætningen omkom.

On 12 April 1943 WEL HE491 failed to return from a mine laying operation. It must have crashed into the North Sea. All of the crew perished.
On 20 June 1943 E. Kitt was found drifted ashore about here north of Esbjerg. He was buried in Esbjerg on 29 June 1943. (Source: AOD) Minelaying areas.
