  Den 11. juni 1941 blev 
HAM AD727 skudt ned af tysk marineflak (omkring
her) nær Buelk ved Kiel  
under en minelægningsoperation.

Dette fly var det 
eneste af de 20 Hampdens fra RAF, der gik tabt. 
 
Flying Officer (Pilot) Peter Harold Howard Pritchard blev den 12. august 1941 
fundet ilanddrevet ved Maglehøj Strand (omkring
her). Han blev begravet 15. august 1941 på Kappel Kirkegård under udfoldelse 
 
af al den honnør, som tyskerne på det tidspunkt endnu gav faldne modstandere. 
Den tyske feltpræst  
Graef foretog begravelsen. Højtideligheden sluttede med, at 
en tysk deling skød æressalut over graven,  
hvor der senere blev anbragt et kors 
med inskriptionen "Hier ruht der englische Flieger Pritchard", se
foto.

HAM AD727  was shot down by German flak (about
here) near Buelk at Kiel on a minelaying operation.

This plane was the only 
one of the 20 
Hampdens from the RAF which was lost. 
 
On 12 August 1941 the body of 
Flying Officer (Pilot) Peter Harold Howard Pritchard was found washed ashore on 
Maglehøj Strand (about
here). He was buried on 15 August 1941 with all the military honours 
which 
the German still at that time showed their fallen adversaries. The German 
chaplain Graef officiated  
at the graveside. At the end of the ceremony a German 
platoon fired a salute of honour over the grave.  
Later the Germans placed a 
cross on the grave with the inscription "Hier ruht der englische Flieger Pritchard", see photo. (Sources: FAF and FT-86-87-1)
