Et forfærdeligt antal allierede flyvere omkom under Anden Verdenskrig.

om 3088 flyvere i AirmenDK - de fleste af dem skudt ned over Danmark.
799 af dem overlevede - en overlevelsesprocent på 25,9.
Mange kvinder mistede deres kæreste eller deres ægtemand under krigen, og
efter nogen tid fandt de en anden mand at dele livet med. Hver historie er unik,
men de har også fælles træk. En del flyvere huskes stadig i deres familier

Jessie Bowler mistede sin første mand E.A.C. Thirkettle i 1943 og 65 år senere besøgte hun hans grav Stadil Flyverminde og TV/MIDT-VEST lavede filmen
Det lange farvel (21 min.) om hende på dansk men med mange sekvenser på engelsk. (Højreklik - Zoom - Fuld skærm). Hun døde i 2016, 93 år gammel.
Den vises uden pauser på udstillingen FLYVERE I NATTEN i Ringkøbing.
Stadil 2013 viser at hun vendte tilbage til 70-års mindehøjtideligheden.

Phyllis White døde i 2015 næsten 98 år gammel. Hun overlevede Bill White med
74 år og 3 dage. Hun giftede sig igen nogle år senere - og børnene vidste ikke
noget om deres mors første ægteskab før de blev voksne!

Doris Hendrick fik kun 2 dage efter brylluppet med sin mand Benjamin J. Hudson. Hun besøgte Danmark med sin datter 60 år senere. "Tak fordi du tager min mors historie med på din side. Uniformen hun bærer på billederne er fra foreningen af tidligere medlemmer af de kvindelige hjælpetropper - - -. Min mor meldte sig i
1941 18 år gammel, og hun blev i tjenesten krigen ud. Min mor var korporal og det
var her hun mødte Benny og mod slutningen af krigen min far."
Eileen Kingston mistede sin kæreste Ernest James Presland to uger før deres
bryllup. Hun giftede sig senere, men hun glemte aldrig sin første kærlighed.

Ann Jordan var 2½ år gammel, da hun mistede sin far Kenneth Emery - se foto.
I 2013 ærede hun og hendes mand ham og besætningen på B24 KH410 sammen med danskere. Hvert år lægges en krans efter en gudstjeneste i Aarestrup Kirke.


Adrianne var 2 år gammel, da hun mistede sin far  Bill Ellis og 70 år senere deltog
hun i en højtidelighed ved nedstyrtningsstedet i 2013.
Lynne Truex, niece af Bill Ellis, holdt tale på vegne af 3 flyvere fra Royal Air Force
og i 2014 sendte hun fotos og kort fra Bomber Command Memorial, London.

over Denmark. 799 of them survived - a survival rate of 25.9 %.
Many women lost their fiancé or husband during the war and after some time they found another man to share their lives with. Each story is unique, but they also
have common features. A number of airmen are still remembered in their families.

Jessie Bowler had lost her first husband E.A.C. Thirkettle in 1943 and 65 years later she visited his grave Stadil Memorial and TV/MIDT-VEST made

It is shown non-stop at the exhibition BOMBERS IN THE NIGHT in Ringkøbing.      Stadil 2013 shows that she returned for the 70th commemoration. TV/MIDT-VEST sent 1 min. 27 sec. about the event. See the TV- item and the pages 9 10.


Phyllis White died in 2015 nearly 98. She survived Bill White by 74 years and 3 days. She remarried some years later - and the children knew nothing about their mother's first marriage until they were adult!

Doris Hendrick only had 2 days after her wedding with her husband B.J. Hudson.
She and her daughter visited Denmark 60 years later. "Thank you for including my mother's story on your site. The uniform which she is wearing in the photographs
is that of the WAAF association - - -. My mother joined up in 1941 aged 18 and remained in the service until the end of the war. My mother was a corporal and
this is where she met Benny, and towards the end of the war my father."
Eileen Kingston lost her fiancé Ernest James Presland two weeks before their wedding. She married later, but she never forgot her first love.

Ann Jordan was 2½ years old when she lost her father Kenneth Emery see photo.
In 2013 she and her husband honoured him and the crew of B24 KH410 together
with Danes. Every year a wreath is laid after a service in Aarestrup Church.

Adrianne was 2 years old when she lost her father Bill Ellis and 70 years later she attended a ceremony at the crash site in 2013. Lynne Truex, the niece of Bill Ellis, made a speech on behalf of 3 airmen of the RAF and in 2014 she sent
photos and a note from the Bomber Command Memorial in London.
