FAF: "On a minelaying operation on 15 October 1944 Lancaster LM 208 was shot down by a German night fighter. The plane crashed into the outskirts of Låstrup, here. All on board perished.

On 17 October, 1944 the Wehrmacht buried the bodies at the crash site, but the vicar, rural dean A.S. Kristiansen and the National Civilian Air Defence protested
against this.
On 31 October, 1944 the bodies were disinterred, put in coffins and buried at the north east corner of the cemetery without clerical assistance. The order to move the airmen to the cemetery had come from the the Plenipotentiary of the German Reich to Denmark Dr. Werner Best.

One year after the crash, on 15 October 1945, a memorial service was held, and the Canadian army chaplain Hockin officiated at the graveside ceremony."
Two years after the crash and after a public subscription the memorial in Laastrup Churchyard was unveiled at a ceremony attended by relatives of the
deceased airmen on 15 October 1946. (Source: Henning Vindstrup Jensen)

In the years after the war relatives of the fallen airmen visited the cemetery from time to time - the latest visit took place in August 2001.
