Den 9. maj gik gæsterne, efter en god frokost
i præstegården, sammen med medlemmer af
menighedsrådet i Aarestrup turen ud til
Flyverstenen  i Torstedlund Skov, hvor flyet
forulykkede og alle besætningsmedlemmer
omkom.
På turene fortalte Niels Nørgaard Nielsen,
Lokalhistorisk Arkiv for den tidligere Støvring
Kommune, om flystyrtet og begravelsen på
Aarestrup Kirkegård, der først fandt sted
22. juni 1947, da tyske tropper i første
omgang umiddelbart efter styrtet havde kulet
de omkomne ned på nedstyrtningsstedet,
hvad ingen fandt ud af før godt to år senere.

Efter et kort besøg i parken bag Nørlund
Slot, hvor en sammenkomst havde fundet
sted efter begravelsen i 1947, gik turen til
Lokalhistorisk Arkivs lokaler i Øster
Hornum, hvor gæsterne kunne se en del
flyskrot fundet på nedstyrtningsstedet og
en kort film med optagelser fra
begravelsen på Aarestrup Kirkegård i 1947.

On 9 May, after a good lunch at the vicarage, the visitors walked with members of the Parochial Council in Aarestrup to The Aviator Stone in the forest of
Torstedlund where the plane crashed and all of the crew perished. Niels Nørgaard Nielsen from the Local Archives of the former Municipaliy of Støvring
told about the plane crash and the funeral in Aarestrup Churchyard, which did not take place until 22 June 1947. In the first place German troops had
simply dug the perished airmen down at the crash site. Nobody found out till about two years later.

After a short visit to the park behind Nørlund Castle, where there had been a gathering after the funeral i 1947, the party went on to the rooms of the
archives of local history in Øster Hornum where the visitors saw debris from the plane found at the crash site and a short film with recordings
from the funeral in Aarestrup Churchyard in 1947.
