M.C. Eddleston was found washed ashore at Guldborg on the property of “Vilhelmsdal”. (About here)
Buried by vicar Palle Bartholin on 13 April, 1945. A. Wood was found on Alstrup Strand (about
here) on
24 April, 1945 and buried 2 days later by the vicar.
The German Wehrmacht did not know anything about the 2 funerals, and nothing was announced in
advance when they were to take place. Nevertheless Brarup Church was, at least at one of the funerals,
filled to the last seat. The people present were attending one of the few illegal burials of allied airmen
during the occupation.
