Det østbornholmske Dampskibsselskabs damper "Carl" passerede på sine ture Bornholm-København-Bornholm gennem Falsterbokanalen  her. Sørejsen blev meget kortere via kanalen i det neutrale Sverige. Ruten var vigtig for illegale transporter:

"De svenske myndigheder havde forlangt, at alle - også tyskerne - skulle være under dæk, når skibet sejlede gennem kanalen, der var svensk militært område. Svend Aage Munck så her en mulighed for på en illegal måde at laste og losse passagerer, post og gods mellem Danmark og Sverige. Han tog derfor initiativet til oprettelsen af en organisation, som skulle forestå illegale transporter med det legale skib "Carl".

En lang række aftaler blev truffet med det svenske militær. De svenske lodser ved Falsterbokanalen gik ind på at medvirke, hvilket var meget vigtigt, da planen gik ud på, at den illegale last skulle skiftes ud, når lodsbåden lagde til ved "Carl". Af stor vigtighed var det også, at Svend Aage Munck fik alle folkene på "Carl" - fra kaptajner til skibsdrenge - til at gå 100% ind for opgaven. En forudsætning for transporternes heldige forløb var så absolut, at alle kunne holde tæt." (DFEV)

Transporterne med "Carl" kom til at gå under navnet Lise-ruten. Systemet fungerede glimrende, da alt var nøje planlagt på forhånd. Ruten blev brugt af bl.a. ledende modstandsmænd som Arne Sørensen, Hans Hedtoft, Flemming B. Muus, "Flammen" og "Citronen". Transport kunne også være med "Svanen" - se detaljer.

3 amerikanske flyvere sejlede også med "Carl": Pilot 2nd Lt Orland T. Howard fra B24 41-29479, der landede ved Poulsker, og Navigator, 2nd Lt Seymour Ringle og Bombardier, 2nd Lt James Stevenson fra B17 42-31619 der landede ved Sosegård.

On its voyages Bornholm-Copenhagen-Bornholm the steamer "Carl" from The East Bornholm Steamship Company passed through Falsterbokanalen  here. (Text in English without map, the Falsterbo Canal.) The voyage was much shorter through this canal in neutral Sweden. The route was important for illegal transports.

"The Swedish authorities had demanded that everyone - also the Germans - had to be below deck, when the ship passed through the canal, which was Swedish  military area. Sven Aage Munck here saw a chance for loading and unloading passengers, mail and goods between Denmark and Sweden in an illegal way. He took the initiative to establish an organization to manage illegal transports with the legal ship "Carl".

A long series of arrangements were made with the Swedish military. The Swedish sea pilots at the Falsterbo Canal agreed to co-operate, which was very important, since the plan was to replace the illegal cargo, when the sea pilot boat moored at "Carl". It was also very important that Svend Aage Munck made all of the crew members on "Carl" - from captains to ship´s boys - work 100% for the purpose. A precondition for successful transports was definitely that everyone could keep silent."  (DFEV p. 130)

The transports with "Carl" got the name "The Lise route". The system worked excellently, with everything planned in advance. The route was used by leading members of the resistance, such as Arne Sørensen, Hans Hedtoft, Flemming B. Muus, "Flammen" and "Citronen". Transport could also be with "Svanen" (the Swan).
