B17 42-3535
Poznan
her.
hjalp dem under deres flugt." Måske fik nogle af dem også en
officiel tak fra General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Raoul A. de Mars skrev omkring 1978
A TIME TO REMEMBER om den sidste mission
og vejen tilbage til friheden.
Hans søn sendte beretningen til
www.airmen.dk.

These 2 photos and a translated edition of a
Danish News Bulletin were sent from Raoul A. de Mars Jr.
to www.airmen.dk on 27 February 2009.
Excerpts from his email:
"My father, Raoul A. de
Mars, was the co-pilot on this flight B 17G 42-3535 which belly landed near
Varpelev 11/4 1944. I have a photo of a German
Soldier
guarding the plane that
was taken a day or two after the landing. Also another archival photo that I
obtained several years ago.
My father passed away in 2004 and was always
grateful to your countrymen that aided them in their escape." Maybe some of
them also got a
citation from General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
About 1978 Raoul A. de Mars wrote A TIME TO
REMEMBER about the last mission and the way back to freedom.
This
account was sent by his son to www.airmen.dk.
