Den 21. september 1942 styrtede WEL X3815 ned i Spandet mose her, overblik her

i 4.000 fods højde, før flyet nåede målområdet."

R. E. N. Butcher, V. R. Paterson og E. J. Rowe blev dræbt ved styrtet. De blev begravet i Aabenraa.
C. H. Mitchell og G. L. Otter sprang ud med faldskærm inden styrtet.
