Den 23. april 1944 kl. 23.15 styrtede STI LJ526 på en mark ved Hovgaarden ved Øster Skerninge
(her) nær Svendborg. Det blev skudt ned af en tysk natjager under en mineudlægningsoperation til

Han og de andre flyvere blev fundet nedgravet efter befrielsen den 5. maj 1945.

On 23 April 1944 at 23.15 hours STI LJ526 crashed into a field at Hovgaarden at Øster Skerninge

Sergeant (Flight Engineer) Alan Richardson Redfearn, 27, was the son of Harold and Alice Redfearn,
and the husband of Valerie Margaret Redfearn, of Paddington, London, United Kingdom. (CWGC)
He is remembered on The Walls of Names at the International Bomber Command Centre, P 2,  P 230. 

After the liberation on 5 May 1945 airmen from this crew were found dug down.
