Den 14. september 1943 styrtede HAL JD269 brændende ned ved banelinjen 6 km nord for Esbjerg

Flyet var på en våbenflyvning til den polske modstandsbevægelse. Hele besætningen omkom.
De 7 flyvere blev begravet i Esbjerg den 21. september 1943.
