Den 4. januar 1944 kl. 12.30 mavelandede B17 42-5838 omkring her (Kilde: Helge Christiansen) på Asnæs ved Kalundborg (overblik her).

Flyvehistorisk Tidsskrift (FT 88-35-19) skriver: "Mad Money II. 547 BS, 384 BG, 41 CBW, 1 BD, Grafton Underwood, Northants. (Kiel) 10 POW.

over Danmark.) »Mad Money ll« var kommet til 384 BG i april 1943, da enheden i Sioux City her i USA. Flyet havde deltaget i alle de voldsomme og tabgivende
angreb i den mellemliggende periode og var nu enhedens ældste fly. Over Kiel blev flyet ramt af flak, og den erfarne pilot, 1st Lt. William Kaczaraba, valgte at flyve til Sverige. Over Fyn satte to motorer ud, og umiddelbart efter foretog piloten en perfekt mavelanding ved Asnæs. Besætningen satte øjeblikkelig ild til flyet, der
udbrændte totalt. Tyskerne ankom kl. 14.15 og tog besætningen til fange. Næste dag blev alle 10 flyvere overflyttet fra Værløse til Dulag Luft ved Oberursel."

Rømø lost over Denmark.) »Mad Money ll« had joined the 384 BG in April 1943, when it was stationed at Sioux City here in the USA. The plane had participated in all
the violent attacks with heavy losses since then, and now it was the last of the 384th Bomb Group's original planes. It was hit by flak over Kiel and the experienced
pilot William Kaczaraba decided to fly to Sweden. Two engines misfired over Fyn and right after that the pilot made a perfect belly landing at Asnæs (
here). At once
the crew set fire to the plane and it burnt out completely. The Germans arrived at 14.15 hours and captured the crew. The next day the 10 airmen were taken from
Værløse (Airfield) to
Dulag Luft Oberursel."
