Den 28. juli 1943 styrtede B17 42-3316 i Nordsøen ud for Helgoland på udturen af et bombetogt til Warnemünde (her). Hele besætningen omkom.

On 28 July 1943 B17 42-3316 crashed into the North Sea off Heligoland on the outward flight of a bombing raid on Warnemünde (here). All of the crew perished.
