"Efter et bombetogt til Kiel den 14. maj 1943 blev et B-17 fly sidst set lige vest for øen Amrum (måske omkring her) kl. 12.30. En af flyets 4 motorer var da gået i stå, ligesom et stort hul i sideroret blev bemærket. Flyet må være styrtet i Nordsøen. Hele besætningen, 10 mand, omkom." (FAF)

"On 14 May 1943 at 12.30 hours a B-17 was last seen west of the island of Amrum (maybe about here) after a bombing raid on Kiel.
Then one of its four engines had stopped, and a large hole in the rudder was noticed.
The plane must have crashed into the North Sea. All of the crew perished." (FAF)
