Den 9. april 1942 overrakte Frie Danske i London premierminister Winston Churchill
en check på £ 38.300 til indkøb af Spitfires.              Piloten øverst er
Jørgen Thalbitzer.

On 9 April 1942 "Free Danes" presented Churchill with a cheque of £ 38.000
from a subscription for the purchase of Spitfires.

The next day three Spitfires took off with the Dannebrog painted on the fuselage.
They were named "Niels Ebbesen", "Valdemar Sejr" and "Skagen Ind".

Skagen was the target of all free Danish sailors. The two Danish Pilots
on "Skagen Ind" are Aksel Svendsen and Jørgen Thalbitzer (at the top).
