Den 28. januar 1944 blev
STI EF505 under en
minelægningsoperation til Kiel
Bugt
skudt ned af en tysk jager. Flyet styrtede ned ved Juvre Sande (omkring
her).
Hele besætningen omkom. p253MACR.
Den 3. februar 1944 blev
6 flyvere begravet i Kirkeby af
marinefeltpræst Bukin fra Sild.
Den 11. februar 1944 blev Sgt Atherton begravet i Esbjerg.

by a
German fighter.
The plane crashed at Juvre Sande (about
here).
All of the crew perished.
On 3 February 1944 6 airmen were buried in Kirkeby. Navy Chaplain Bukin from
Sylt officiated at the graveside ceremony. On 11 February 1944 Sgt Atherton was buried in Esbjerg.
