Kl. 13.15 den 8. april 1942 lettede BFO N1172 fra RAF Leuchars for at angribe 6 motorfartøjer.
Flyet blev set kaste en torpedo rettet mod et af de seks fartøjer, men flak forhindrede yderligere observation. Hvid røg blev set komme fra N1172. Flyet styrtede ned i Nordsøen. (Kilde: MACR)
