532 Lancasters flew to bomb Duisburg while
107 planes from 4, 5, and 6 Group laid mines.
The main force was heading for Hamburg, then
Münster to fool the Germans - then Duisburg!
They could not defend all targets at the same
time! 32 bombers were lost. The loss of 5.6 %
was acceptable to Bomber Command.
