Den 12. marts 1945 kl. 11.50 styrtede P51 44-72214 ned ved
Vedskølle (som er her, overblik her).
Det skulle ledsage bombefly
til Swinemunde = Swinoujscie her.

Flyvehistorisk Tidsskrift skriver:
"Over Husum (her) begyndte 1st Lt.

(Danish) Aviation Historical Review writes:
"
Over Husum (here) 1st Lt. Dean Johnson started having problems with his coolant system an some minutes later there came heavy smoke from the engine.
Lt. Johnson headed for Sweden, but his engine was on fire when he passed the coast of South Zealand, so he had to bail out. Soon he made contacts
with helpful Danes. After a stay of one week on Glænø (here) his journey continued over Zealand to Copenhagen and on to Sweden by ship." (FT 88-43-45)

The 3 American fighter pilots 1st Lieutenant Dean C. Johnson, Major John D. McFarlane and Captain Robert D. Brown were assisted by the resistance movement
