Den 28. juli 1943 nødlandede
B17 42-30394 på Nordsøen ud for Tyskland. Tyske jagere havde beskadiget flyet, der var på bombetogt til Oschersleben Airfield.
1 flyver fra B17 42-30394 blev begravet i Kirkeby på Rømø og 1 i Esbjerg, 1 i Belgien og 1 i USA. 6 flyvere overlevede. De blev alle krigsfanger.

MACR p196 B17 42-30401: "4 amerikanske bombefly styrtede i Nordsøen mellem den tyske kyst og Helgoland den morgen."
De 3 af dem må være B17 42-30401 * B17 42-3316 * B17 42-30394.

On 28 July 1943 B17 42-30394 ditched into the North Sea off Germany. German fighters had damaged the plane on its raid on Oschersleben Airfield.
1 airman from B17 42-30394 was buried in Kirkeby on Rømø and 1 in Esbjerg, 1 in BELGIUM and 1 in the USA. 6 airmen survived. All of them became POWs.
